The reading level is ages 5 to 8 which made it a fast read. The kid inside of me loved it but the adult in me knew what was going on. It's not hard to figure out that there are no flesh eating zombies in the story. The only zombie related topic is that the villagers are big on Voodoo. If I was reading this book as a kid I would actually love it.
